How we grew

By the 2007/2008 season the club grew from one team to six teams with age groups in U6s U7s, two U8s teams U10s and our all girls team known as AFC Worthing Divas also U10s. This was a special season for the club as the U10 boys won their respective league with our first group of players and bought the club its first piece of silverware but more importantly it was made even more special as we had formed a girls team, and proved that the club and its development structure was starting to take shape and heading in the right direction with our philosophy for the future.

Now fully established in and around the Worthing area our aim is to keep the club a manageable project, we don’t want to be the biggest club in Worthing, that was never our aim, we just want be the best we can be and do the right things by its members so that all can enjoy the experience of watching the players and teams develop.

The current situation at the club is as follows, we head into the 2014/15 season boasting our largest number of teams in the following age groups Under 7’s, Under 8’s, Under 9’s, Under 10’s, three Under 11’s teams, two Under 12’s teams and our Under 14’s girls team. Along with this the club has now successfully launched the Junior Atoms. This is our football club for 4 and 5 year olds. All our coaches are fully qualified and all are CRB certified.

As already mentioned the club has enjoyed tremendous success since its formation and we are proud of the things we have achieved but the main thing that everyone must remember is that development must always come first it is not all about winning football matches trophies and medals. If the players are developed in the correct way with the correct attitude success will follow, after all winning football matches, trophies and medals are only a marker for development.
