Superb Divas into cup quarter final!

match-reportThree stunning goals saw the Divas knock out Crawley Town to reach the League Challenge Cup quarter-final. New signing Skye scored her first competitive goal as the Divas caught Crawley on the counter attack as early as the first minute to lead 1-0. The goal settled the Divas down as they dominated the majority of the first half.

Had it not been for the brilliance  of the Crawley goalkeeper the tie would have been over at half-time. Giving Crawley credit, they kept plugging away and with 10 minutes left of the first half, they levelled the score to end the half 1-1.

Close second half

The second half followed a similar pattern as Millie, Tia and Robyn took a grip in midfield as the Divas pushed for a second goal. Crawley had their moment too as Darian pulled off two outstanding saves to keep the visitors out. The Divas regained the lead in the 54th minute  when Zoe struck a half-volley from 20 yards which came off the upright and nestled into to the back of thee net to give the Divas a deserved lead. But back came Crawley as they tried to equalize again. Both Jasmine and Ellie stood firm in defence to keep the opposition at bay.

Cydney went close as the Divas threatened a third goal. Some much needed fresh legs came from Annabel, Yasmin and Hannah, all of whom put in hard-shift to help keep the Divas momentum going. A well-worked Divas cornet saw Zoe chip the goalkeeper from the edge of the box with thee outside of her right foot as thee Divas took a two goal advantage for the last 12 minutes to reach the quarter finals.
