MATCH REPORT

Great win today. Grit and determination from start to finish. A new formation today with Annabel and Ellie playing central defence. They worked very well together in tackling and getting the ball through to Zoe, who was playing just in front. Zoe worked well holding the ball up and, as asked, passing the ball wide and forward as a true play-maker. And because of her advanced position scored a cracking low drive which almost broke the net!!

Lauren playing left wing absolutely battered the Horsham midfield and defence, running hard and battling all game. She was in the right place at the right time to give the hard-working Divas a thoroughly deserved lead. Gypsy played on the right wing and did the same. With some menacing runs and some great crosses. Gypsy wasn’t far from scoring herself with a cross/shot eluding the keeper and grazing the bar.

Captain Millie worked her socks off, defending very well and pushing forward brilliantly linking well with her team mates. Rachel shone in midfield. She had some great touches on ball, made some fantastic passes and helped defend well. Cydney worked very well going forward but was also very impressive with her tackling today. This made sure Horsham were aware they were in a game from the front of our line up to the back.

Michelle played well, tackling back and making some measured passes. Darian played very well today in goal, and also through the pain barrier with damaged fingers. You would not have thought it though!!! Darian made a series of quality saves and well judged interceptions to keep Horsham at bay, and to cap it all made a terrific penalty save.

Today I was a proud coach. You all listened and did exactly what was asked of you. A change of position for a few of you too. You all worked so hard from the beginning to the end, and worked together as a team.

Keep this spirit up, praising each other and being positive towards each other, even if someone makes a mistake.

I know we said we’d start it next week with the parents choosing who deserves this award each week, however I feel ‘Man of the Match’ today should go to Darian our goal keeper for an outstanding performance, well done young lady.
