AFC Worthing Youth Atoms U11 v Lancing Rangers U11

Match Report: Saywell International (Arun and Chichester) Youth League

AFC Worthing Youth Atoms U11 1 v 6 Lancing Rangers U11
Date: 05/10/2014
Venue: The Globe Primary School
Atoms Goal: Jago 50 mins.

The Atoms started off really well and were really solid in all positions. Attacking their goal on many occasions, Jago and Charlie were both running riot in their defence. Then against the run of play Lancing Rangers scored in the 13th minute.

As planned on 20 minutes the team switched positions. Harry was pushed-up front, Brennan moved from wing-back to his normal position. Our defence changed back to Jamie left back, Paddy went to right-back and Hayden in the centre-back role.

With the changes in place the team looked confident and were playing really well and were definitely attacking more than defending. But for all the great play and pressure it was Lancing who managed to get the next goals in the game with two quick goals on 25,28 minutes.

The second half saw the Atoms carry on battling. The team were really unlucky not to get two or three goals, and were now attacking Lancing Rangers on the counter attack. On 50 minutes the Atoms broke down the right wing when Harry squared the ball to Jago who converted to make it 1-3. The team really deserved that goal, the work rate was fantastic.

After our goal the team were hit with three more from Lancing Rangers on 52,54 and 58 minutes taking the score to 6-1. This score did not reflect the game we were watching from the touchline. The team while disappointed with the final result all worked really hard. On another day it really could of been a different result.

Man of Match: Jago
