AFC Worthing Youth U12 1 – 1 Bognor Regis Town Youth U12
Date: 19/10/2014
Venue: Homefield Park, Worthing

Youth Goals: Tom, 57 mins

Probably, no definitely the best performance by this team in the 5 years they have been playing league games. Taking a point from Bognor, who finished second in the A league last season, was an amazing achievement. The result was good, but the way the boys went about achieving the result must be applauded. They gave Bognor very little space, they passed quickly and efficiently and overall created more opportunity in front of goal than the opposition.

At the back Samuel teamed up with Harry and James in the first half, and Max and Elliot after the break and they all efficiently dealt with everything Bognor threw at them. Both Adam and Jamie had good games, Jamie in particular deserves a mention for the way he owned the box throughout the second half. A very polished and confident performance. In midfield Ben, Callum and Joseph worked throughout to give Bognor very little space or time on the ball. The Atoms pressed whenever possible and looked dangerous on the counter, James, Tom, Wes and Charlie all demonstrating that they were capable of out playing the very pacey Bognor defence.

The goals came either side of the break. Bognor scoring 5 minutes before the end of the first half from a lovely cross. The Atoms equalising on 57 minutes through Tom who lifted it over the keeper just minutes after Wesley had almost equalised with a lovely chip that lifted inches over the bar.

Every one of the team played to their potential and deserved the result, which to be honest on another day could even have been a victory, I am very proud of the boys. Keep it up guys. Today you proved to yourselves that you deserve your place in the A league.
