The Atoms go through to the next round of the Arun and Chichester Cup following a very tough game against Worthing Minors Athletic Green.

The Atoms got off to a very slow start and it took them a good ten minutes to take an element of control on the game. The Atoms created by far the most chances, but by half time had failed to convert them and although Minors didn’t create any clear opportunities they always looked like they could be dangerous on the counter attack.

As the teams went into the second half it was clear this was a very different Minors to the team we had beaten 14-0 last year. The second half was very similar, Minors played well, the Atoms created most of the chances, but were failing to convert, until Ben finally put the Atoms ahead on 45 minutes. It looked like this was going to be enough and then an innocuous free kick from way outside the box was struck over the five-man wall and through Adams out stretched arms to take the game to extra time. 20 additional minutes of nail-biting football later and it looked like a penalty shoot out was the most likely outcome until James Ford struck a lovely winner with just second to go.

Not an easy game. Minors did very well, but the Atoms go through to play Barnham in the next round,

Well done guys, you dug deep.
