AFC Worthing Youth U12’s Atoms Match Report, Sunday 31st January

The Atoms started strong and could have been 4-0 up in the first 10 minutes, hitting the post twice with Brennan
shooting from everywhere. The Lancing keeper was being kept really busy, saving two shots from Tom.

Atoms were really strong and attacked from both sides of the pitch. The new partnership of Tom and
Tony in midfield worked really well. Every player on the pitch did what they were asked and more.

The reward for the attacking play came on 15 mins with Tony bulldozing through the middle and hitting the back of the net, 1-0.

This is the best team we have played all season and and we dominated everywhere on the pitch. Lancing could not get out of their half and we pushed forward on every chance. Tom could of grabbed a hat-trick if it wasn’t for their keeper, forget the scoreline, this young lad was really on form.

Then on the 26 minute mark, Joseph grabbed a well deserved goal to take the Atoms into a 2-0 lead. Hayden our goalkeeper touched the ball probably three times in the first half with many thanks to our solid defence, half-time.

The half-time the team talk was the easiest as everyone had performed at 100%. We subbed Joseph for Jago, also Isaac for Noah.

We started the second half as strong as we finished the first. Attack, attack was what we told the team and not to sit back. For 10 minutes Lancing could not get out of their half. It paid off with Tony Norris stepping up and banging in to take the score to 3-0 we were so strong and we kept pushing them back further and then Brennan scored on 50 mins with a fantastic goal.

Finally Tom scored having come close so many times on 52 mins making it 5-0, it was well deserved. Three minutes later Brennan struck again, an amazing goal on 55 minutes, 6-0. Push, push was paying off and Lancing just could not control us. 58 minutes, Tony (hat-trick) 7-0 an amazing performance, so, so strong and covered every part of the pitch. Jago then completed the best team performance and scored on 59 minutes with a great goal.

The team deserved the win. All the boys hard work is paying off, great performance.

So proud, and thank you for all the help Ben Saunders.
