Another great night celebrating another great season of football

Another great night celebrating another great season of football, and what a season it was!!!

Thank you to everyone who came to Presentation Night on Saturday, a great way to reward all our fantastic players for their hard work, commitment and passion over the season.  Many congratulations to all of our main award winners, you were all very worthy winners.

We were very grateful to everyone that donated prizes to our Tombola, and all the following local businesses

  • Dandy Rocks Jewellery
  • SJM Electrical
  • Beautique by Body Sense
  • Sterling Power Tools & Fixings
  • PDI Joinery Ltd
  • Phoenix Frozen Foods Ltd
  • Teamsport Go-Karting

We raised just over £115 which will go towards buying new balls and equipment for the new season.

World Cup Goal Competition

Mark and Jamie’s World Cup Game was a great success and the lucky winner was DARREN JEFFERY who received a £30 cash prize, congratulations Darren. The rest of the money raised is going towards our charity collections.

Charity Collection

For those of you that were not at the event, we decided to do a charity collection for ‘Brainwave’ and ‘The Little Princess Trust’, which are both close to our hearts here at AFC Worthing Youth.  One of our coaches, Steve Freeman and his family receive support from ‘Brainwave’ which is a charity that helps children with disabilities & additional needs to achieve greater independence. On Sunday morning Steve & his wife Kim ran the London 10 kilometre race in aid of the charity, well done to them both.  If you were unable to come on Saturday but would like to make a donation to this wonderful charity, please visit Kim and Steve’s Just Giving page.

Our second charity ‘The Little Princess Trust’ makes real-hair wigs for children that have lost their hair due to cancer treatment as well as other illnesses.  Our Club Secretary’s daughter, Maya Puglia has recently had 26cm of her hair cut off and donated it to this worthwhile cause.  Maya suffered as a small child with Loose Anagen Hair Syndrome which meant her hair unfortunately didn’t grow properly, this was the first time in nearly 10 years that she had had it cut. Again if you wish to make a donation Maya’s Just Giving page is here

On the night you our parents and grandparents, were very generous and we are pleased to say we will be donating nearly £150 to these charities, so thank you to everyone who contributed.

Silent Auction – Headphones

B&W Loudspeakers donated several pairs of headphones once again this year, we are very grateful for their continued support.  Our lucky winning bidders were

  • John Cole
  • Matt Sephton
  • Tony Stroud
  • Lee Colbran
  • John McCormack
  • Ian Cooke

Thank you to you all for bidding and I hope you are enjoying the headphones!!

And finally

I would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who helped out both before and during our Presentation Night.  Lots of time and effort goes into planning these kind of events and I really do appreciate all the help I had from people this year. From the ladies that helped set up, Nicole and Jacki you were fantastic, to Les, Pete & Tony for getting the hall ready and our lovely Coaches who all mucked in on the night, running the competitions and silent auction.  Special thanks to the Jane’s on the drinks stall & my ‘buffet babes’, the food looked absolutely lovely.

I hope you all enjoy a fantastic summer, let’s hope this beautiful weather stays with us.  I look forward to seeing you all pitch side at the start of the season in September.
