Chichester City Colts White U12 v AFC Worthing Youth U12 – Match Report

Match Report: Saywell International (Arun and Chichester) Youth League

Chichester City Colts White U12 1 – 1 AFC Worthing Youth U12
Date: 07/09/2014
Venue: New Park Road
Youth Goals: Harry 10 mins.

This was AFC Worthing Youth Under 12’s first match in the A division following their promotion. They faced tough opponents Chichester City who had finished 4th in this league last season.  AFC Worthing set themselves up in a defensive 3, 4, 1 formation with a plan to win through a counter attacking strategy.  Harry & new signing Callum played in the central midfield roles and Charlie played the role of lone striker.  It was a great first half performance with every player keeping a great shape, making it very difficult for Chichester to get a shot on goal. The team played the counter attacking strategy well and on 10 minutes Wesley was brought down in the box for a clear penalty.  Harry volunteered to take the responsibility and smashed us into the lead with a well taken spot kick.

Chichester came out more aggressively in the second half and looked more threatening, but our under 12’s worked hard and continued to make it difficult for Chichester. Our opponents had a couple of good chances, Adam our keeper coming well off his line to dive out to stop one shot and then pushing another wide.  AT the other end AFC Worthing had a direct free kick awarded as Wesley was brought down when he was through on goal.  The equaliser when it came was a stunning, but rather lucky 40 yard strike from way out on the left wing and Adam had little chance to reach it.

Overall a fair result 1-1.  Well done guys, a great performance for your first game in the top flight.  Looking forward to our season ahead together.
