Date: 14/09/2014
Venue: White Meadow Primary School, Littlehampton

The second game of the season took the Under 12’s Atoms a few miles down the road for an away match in Littlehampton. The opponents on this beautiful September morning being Littlehampton Town Youth Yellow.

The start of the first half saw the two teams locked very closely together. Although the balance of play was fairly even, it was the Atoms who were creating more goal scoring opportunities. While the chances were there, the players were not quite able to penetrate the outstanding Littlehampton defence. After 20 minutes, the Atoms dropped their guard and conceded the first goal. Not thwarted by this set-back, the team responded brilliantly and within a minute the Atoms had scored to level the match.

The second half was a reversal of the first. In this period, it was Littlehampton who had more clear-cut goal scoring opportunities. Thankfully for the Atoms the team from down the coast could not get the ball into the back of the net. As the match drew to a conclusion the game became very tense with neither team able to push on and claim a second goal. The match ended in stalemate.

The match was entertaining to watch and was played in a good spirit by both teams. At the final whistle it was hand-shakes all round after what turned-out to be an evenly matched contest.
