Date: 26/10/2014
Venue: Station Road, Angmering
Youth Goals: Elliot, 42 mins, Harry 45 mins, Ben 50 mins

The Atoms gained their first victory in the A league in a very even game against Rustington Otters.

In the first half the Atoms struggled to get control of the ball upfront and the Otters pressed the Atoms into their own half. Although Otters were pressing and earned seven corners, they failed to convert them. Samuel dealing with the majority of the set-piece balls as they dropped into the danger zone. The Atoms were always quick to counter, but struggled to create any really great opportunities and the first half ended as it started at 0-0.

As instructed, in the second half, the Atoms started to switch the play more effectively. This was when the team started to play some better passing football. Tom in particular started using his pace to cause the Otters right-hand side defender a lot of problems. The break the Atoms needed came from Elliot who smacked the ball from not far-away from the half way line. The shot went over the Otters keepers head to put the Atoms one-up. Then two goals followed in 10 minutes. The second from Harry who just popped it nicely into an open goal. The third from Ben. This following a lovely through ball from Jack and a little trickery from Charlie to set him up.

It was a great team performance as it has to be to win at this level. Well done boys.
