MATCH REPORT

The Stars started the game the way they left off last week, pressing Rustington in all areas. Several corners were won, with Josh B delivering the ball from the set play. Jack broke free from a lofted ball from midfield, but the resultant lob drifted wide. Matthew and Jake were marshalling the midfield, however the Stars were just unable to finish. Rustington won a corner, which they took quickly as the Stars were not set, but the effort was cleared by the Stars. On the next Rustington attack, Jake fouled a Rustington player in the area, which resulted in a penalty. However, Nathaniel guessed the right way and saved well to his right. The Stars went straight on the attack and won a corner, which Matthew scored directly from, the ball alluding both teams players, 0-1. The Stars grew in strength and from another corner the ball was not cleared by Rustington, Josh B crossed and Charlie G controlled the ball and smashed it home, 0-2. Rustington were restricted to playing the ball long to their lone striker, but Max and Oli were far too strong. From a Rustington goal kick the ball was won by the Stars, squared to Jake who scored from nearly the half way line. Half Time, 0-3.

The 2nd half the Stars continued to press for more goals, however this was leaving the midfield and defence exposed. On several occasions Oli and Henry, were forced to chase back and clear the ball away. Joshua S won the ball in midfield and played it out to Jack, who crossed the ball for Charlie G to score his 2nd of the game, 0-4. The game was now very end to end with both teams trying to score more goals. On a resultant Rustington break, the ball was squared and the shot drifted over Nathaniel into the far corner, 1-4.

Both teams were now tiring and several fouls occurred as a result, with both Charles F and Joshua B being the recipients of free kicks, however the Stars were unable to capitalise. Full Time, 1-4.

A great debut for Charlie G and a well deserved Man Of The Match award to Nathaniel, for a faultless performance in goal today.
